What is Paracetamol?
Paracetamol is used to relieve sore throat and fever, and aches and pains of cold and flu. It is also used to relieve mild to moderate pain for headaches, migraines, backache, muscle pain, toothache and period pain.
How to take Paracetamol?
It is important that you take paracetamol exactly as directed. If you are unsure, please contact your GP or Medexpress. Do not take more than 2 tablets at a time every four to six hours if needed. Do not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours. Do not take anything else containing paracetamol while taking this medicine. Talk to a doctor immediately if you take too much of this medicine, even if you feel well.
For oral use only. Swallow the tablets with a drink of water.
Store paracetamol tablets in a dry place below 25 ?, out of the reach and sight of children.
Paracetamol 500mg is not for use in children.
Will paracetamol help with symptoms of Covid-19?
One of the main symptoms of COVID-19 is a high temperature. The NHS has advised that paracetamol can be used to lower a high temperature caused by COVID-19. Remember, for the most up to date information, check the NHS website and gov.uk. If you cannot manage your symptoms at home use the 111 coronavirus service, or call 111 if you cannot get help online. For life-threatening emergencies, call 999 for an ambulance.
What are the side effects of Paracetamol?
Side effects of Paracetamol are rare and it is usually very well tolerated when taken as prescribed. Avoid alcohol while taking this medicine so as to reduce the risk of side effects. It is gentle on the stomach.
